A hall is often the best place for a litter box. It is close to the door, away from the kitchen and easy to air. A bench gives it a place that looks planned. The box goes under the seat, the shoes go beside it.

A seat is about 46 cm high, so the bench works for most cats. A litter compartment needs the cat's shoulder height plus 25 cm inside. For a Maine Coon we raise the seat a little, or put the box in a cabinet instead.

Seat: A lift-up lid or a seat cushion with a washable cover.
Box out: The seat lifts on soft-close stays, or the box slides out at the front on a tray.
Cat door: At the end of the bench, so the cat walks in from the side and not past your feet.
Shoes: An open shoe shelf or a drawer for leads, bags and litter.

Our rule: the litter box is about 1.5 times the length of the cat, up to 75 cm, about the largest box sold. The compartment adds 10 cm all round. Sizes for the larger cat of each breed. We check the numbers against your own cat.

Questions

Will shoes and a litter box in one bench smell?

Not if they are apart. A solid wall divides the two, and the litter side has its own air slots at the back. Wet shoes get an open shelf.

How long is a litter box bench?

The litter compartment plus the shoe space. For an average cat that starts at about 120 cm. With a large box or a long shoe shelf it gets longer.

Can I sit on it every day?

Yes. It is built as a bench first, with a seat that takes an adult sitting down hard. Blum stays keep the lid from dropping on the cat.
