When a wire crate is enough

For crate training a puppy, for the car or for travel, a wire crate is practical and cheap. If your dog is still growing fast, it is often the sensible first step.

When ready-made furniture fits

If your dog fits a standard size and the design suits your room, ready-made crate furniture is the quickest answer. Check the inside dimensions, not only the outside.

When made to measure makes sense

For very small or very large dogs, for two dogs, for an alcove or a wall you want filled exactly, and when the piece has to match your other furniture. You pay about what designer furniture costs, and you get your own dog's size.

Is dog crate furniture better than a wire crate?

For everyday life at home, usually yes, because it feels more sheltered and can stay in the living room. For training, the car and travel, a wire crate is more practical. Many homes have both.

What should I check before I buy?

The inside dimensions: your dog must be able to stand, turn and lie stretched out. Then ventilation, a sturdy door if you need one, and surfaces that wipe clean. Measure your dog.
