A dog that sleeps in the bedroom settles faster at night and is calmer when it can hear you. A crate on the floor beside the bed takes space the room does not have. A piece of furniture with a den takes the place of something the room needs anyway.
For small dogs, the den goes into the nightstand, with the top at the height of your mattress. For larger dogs, a bench at the end of the bed holds the den. Dogs that are allowed up get steps with a den underneath.
